You may not believe what you're about to read. Early indications are that this could be a significant breakthrough in nutritional medicine, cancer treatments and heavy metals detoxification. If early reports are to be believed, it far surpasses even the most miraculous cancer drugs from the world of conventional medicine, as you'll see below. It could also be nothing special at all, some critics say, and we'll explore that side of this story as well. Read this article carefully, and remember that as the author of this article, I am in no way financially involved in this company or its products. My level of interest in this product is due solely to its apparent potential for ending suffering, not from any financial reward on my part -- because, again, I have absolutely no financial ties to this product or its manufacturer. What is this product? Let me put this into perspective for you. Recently, the conventional medical community went positively nuts over the latest anti-cancer drug, Herceptin. This drug, which was clinically shown to reduce the rate of recurring breast cancer by 43%, has been deemed a "cure for cancer" by physicians and oncologists who live in the realm of pharmaceuticals. This is the most amazing drug they've ever seen -- 43% reduction -- and they're calling for it to be widely prescribed, even to those women who don't have breast cancer. Here's a question for you: what if there were a non-prescription substance, made from natural ingredients, which had been correlated with cancer remissions in 78% of stage 4 cancer patients in a preliminary trial? (This was a small-scale prelim trial, so don't draw erroneous conclusions based on this single study...) If you know anything about cancer, you're probably already thinking this can't be true. It's simply too good to be true. But actually, I'm not done explaining it yet... What if this substance was virtually tasteless, odorless and easily consumed in water? That way, cancer patients (who have a very difficult time handling anything that tastes funny) could stomach it? What if this substance also functioned as a potent detoxification supplement that binds with heavy metals, PCBs, pesticides and other cancer-causing chemicals and pulls them right out of the body? What if it could bind with nitrosamines in the digestive tract, protecting people from the cancer-causing effects of processed meat preservatives? What if this were backed by an approved U.S. patent, supported by convincing scientific research, and already on the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list for food ingredients? And what if it were available right now, as a new breakthrough in nutritional medicine, that's shipping to customers as we speak? Natural Cellular Defense The news is that there is such a nutritional product. It's called Natural Cellular Defense (NCD), and it's based on research conducted by reputable (and pioneering) scientists from the world of -- believe it or not -- pharmaceutical medicine. There's a lot of excitement (some say it's just hype) over NCD right now, especially online. Critics, however, point out that NCD is not safety approved by the FDA for any specific disease. Then again, neither is zinc, pomegranates or green tea, and we all know those are proven disease fighters. Besides, FDA safety approval doesn't mean much to anybody who knows how the FDA really operates, since the agency routinely approves deadly drugs like Vioxx that have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans already (and continue to do so each year). Recently, too, an FDA safety panel gave near-unanimous approval to a diabetes drug that doubled the risk of heart attacks and strokes -- another Vioxx disaster just waiting to happen. But that's a different article. They relevant question here is this: is NCD safe? And is it really a breakthrough supplement that could save lives and help prevent cancer and other degenerative diseases? Let's take a closer look at the function claims emerging from the research on this substance conducted by Rik Deitsch (background info on Rik provided later in this article). According to his research document, which you can download and read yourself (see "learn more," below), NCD exhibits the following actions: 1. Reduces cancer risk. Although only one small human trial has been conducted, the results were intriguing: 78% full remission for stage 4 cancer patients (with various types of cancer). The study was an open-label trial conducted by the researchers at LifeLink Pharmaceuticals in Ohio. Although one small study is not grounds for leaping to solid conclusions about cancer, this result is promising enough to warrant additional investigation. Any anti-cancer effect is probably due to NCD's ability to induce tumor suppressor genes that cause the body to not only halt the growth of tumor cells, but actually destroy such tumors. The technical explanation on this reads: Finely ground natural zeolite powder has also been shown to induce activation of p21WAF1/CIP1. As a universal inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases and one of the target genes of the tumor suppresser p53, p21WAF1/CIP1 can act as a tumor suppresser through its ability to control cell cycle progression. Activation of p21WAF1/CIP1 may halt the growth of tumors by directly suppressing growth signals. However, tissue culture experiments demonstrated that activated zeolite particles inhibit protein kinase B/akt, another kinase involved in antiapoptotic processes and cancer promotion. This happens only when growth of cells in tissue cultures is stimulated by the addition of growth factors. Zeolite particles might adsorb growth factors or prevent interaction of protein kinase B with membranes, where it is phosphorylated by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. It has recently been shown that inactivation of protein kinase B by, for example, the novel tumor suppressor molecule PTEN also results in induction of the tumor suppressor-CDK inhibitor p27KIP1. 2. Acts as an antioxidant. Thus, it counters free radicals and helps the body defend itself against free radical / DNA damage. 3. Traps and nullifies nitrosamines in the digestive tract. This is of monumental importance. If you've read much on this site, you already know I've been sounding alarm bells about sodium nitrite and nitrosamines found in processed meats. (I've covered the issue in depth in my book Grocery Warning.) These nitrosamines are potent cancer-causing agents that appear responsible for the dramatic increase in cancer risk that follows the consumption of processed meat products (bacon, sausage, pepperoni, etc.) Pancreatic cancer rates shoot up 68%, and colon cancer rates are similarly heightened. Leukemia and brain cancers are also strongly correlated with processed meats consumption. Additionally, we've also learned just recently that nitrosamines are a causative factor in type-II diabetes. Yet consumers are eating nitrosamines almost every day in their sandwich meats, pizzas, canned soups and other manufactured food products. NCD captures and isolates those nitrosamine compounds from the body, preventing them from reacting with the body's biochemistry. This single effect of this product could, in my estimation, potentially save the lives of millions of children and adults every year, all around the world. More detailed studies need to be conducted, of course, to determine the precise protective effect, but the initial information is very intriguing. 4. Chelates and removes heavy metals from the body. This is substantial. It is known to remove mercury, cadmium, and lead, all of which are strongly correlated with various neurological disorders such as autism, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, etc. The heavy metals research that I've seen, however, was conducted outside the body (not in human subjects), so there remains a lot of research that needs to be done in humans to further support this function claim. 5. Provides immunomodulatory action. This means it supports healthy immune system function which, of course, helps protect the body from a number of diseases and health threats. 6. Acts as a broad spectrum antiviral agent. After a few weeks of use, NCD reportedly begins to exhibit antiviral effects. This benefit is obviously very important for defense against infectious disease and even potential pandemic threats like the bird flu. It doesn't mean NCD treats bird flu or any particular disease, but it could potentially help reduce the viral load in conjunction with other, more direct treatments. 7. Balances pH levels. This is also hugely important for maintaining overall health. Most people exist in a state of excessive acidity, largely caused by poor dietary choices. NCD helps balance that state so that the body can function at its greatest biochemical efficiency. 8. Improves nutrient absorption. Malnutrition is common in the populations of the western world, even for those eating excessive quantities of food. One of the main reasons is, of course, malabsorption of nutrients, and it is these nutritional deficiencies that so often lead to the onset of chronic disease, especially in the elderly. NCD reportedly improves nutrient absorption, thereby reducing the risk of malnutrition, even without dietary changes. How does Natural Cellular Defense really work? How does it do all this? As Rik explains, it has to do with the unique crystalline structure of the zeolites which make up the active ingredient in NCD. Zeolites are found in nature, formed by the fusion of glass-rich volcanic rock with water (either fresh water or seawater). These zeolites have a rare property of being able to exchange positively-charged particles with surrounding elements without losing their structure. Zeolites are, essentially, negatively-charged minerals. This allows a zeolite crystal to act as a "cage" that traps particles and compounds, isolating them from the biochemistry of the organism. Thus it functions as a sort of dance club bouncer that captures free radicals, carcinogens and even viral particles, and tosses them out. Because of this unique mechanism, NCD offers a unique line of defense that complements existing nutritional therapies without redundancy. In other words, if you're already taking green tea supplements as a breast cancer prevention strategy, then taking NCD will only complement your green tea strategy, because NCD works from an entirely different biochemical mechanism than green tea. A good question about NCD (and I don't know the answer to this) is whether NCD would be contraindicated for the dietary supplementation of minerals such as calcium, magnesium or trace minerals. Rik partly answers this in his rebuttal (below), where he explains the selectivity of the zeolites. Critics say zeolites cause harm Critics of NCD, however, are saying this substance causes cancer. How can that be? They're referring to the fibrous structure of zeolite crystals and the problems encountered when a person inhales tiny crystalline structures. Inhaling asbestos, for example, is known to cause lung cancer. The tiny, knife-edge fibers in asbestos slice up the tissues of your lungs, then embed themselves and interfere with normal lung tissue function, ultimately leading to cancer (20 or 30 years down the road, sometimes). My first response to the critics is simply that the zeolites in NCD are never inhaled. This is a product that's swallowed, not breathed in. So we're talking apples and oranges here. Of course volcanic rock will cause cancer if you grind it into fine dust and inhale it for hours on end. Almost any crystalline substance would do the same. But consuming it orally is an entirely different story. We consume many other crystalline structures orally, including minerals and amino acids from our daily diet. Silica, for one, is a common nutritional supplement, and there's no indication that swallowing silica is harmful. Even spinach contains crystalline structures. And zeolites are on the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list maintained by the FDA. Not that the FDA has any credibility in my view, but it is a GRAS substance. You can see this GRAS status mentioned at: http://www.gsaresources.com/PDSZK406H.htm. There, the page goes on to explain, "Natural zeolites are inert, non-toxic minerals which are federally classified as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) in most applications and exempted from regulations and reporting when used in accordance with good agricultural practice and when less than 2% in animal feed products (40 CFR, Part 180.1001)." I would also question the critics of zeolites with an obvious question: if zeolites caused cancer, then how did 78% of the stage 4 cancer patients in the clinical trial find themselves in a state of full remission after taking NCD? Obviously, if the substance promoted cancer, those people should never have survived the study. Seven subjects didn't survive, actually, but they were late-stage cancer patients, and the trial lasted 14 months. Keep in mind this was a small study, so it doesn't prove anything conclusively all by itself. I've seen some talk on the 'net that claims this substance has been proven to cure all cancers with a 100% cure rate and other similar nonsense. That's extremely irresponsible, given how little we actually know about the efficacy of this supplement in the context of different diseases or conditions. More research clearly needs to be conducted. It may someday be solidly proven that NCD prevents or treats cancers, but the supplement is nowhere near that status today. (It would cost probably half a billion dollars just to fund the studies to determine the answer to those questions, by the way.) The Scientific Research Monograph by Rik Deitsch explains more about the safety of NCD: The zeolite particles are negatively charged in the entire pH range (pH 1–11). Electron microscopy shows an absence of fibers, and most particles are round with a very rough surface. The absence of fibrous, positively charged particles is encouraging since such particles are present in asbestos and erionite zeolites, which are highly carcinogenic and mutagenic. In addition, activated zeolite particles do not catalyze the production of hydroxyl radicals, unlike asbestos or erionite. It seems that absence of fibrous particles capable of producing hydroxyl radicals makes this zeolite sample nontoxic and noncarcinogenic, at least when applied orally. Rik Deitsch responds to critics At the bottom of this article, I've reprinted Rik Deitsch's response to the primary critic of NCD. You can scroll all the way down to the bottom of this article to see the full response. It contains some solid scientific rebuttals to the critics, and also a good dose of emotional charge (almost as exciting as some of my own Big Pharma rants...) The one contraindication on NCD that I'm fully aware of, however, is dehydration. If you take this product as a supplement and then fail to drink large amounts of water, you may end up causing harm through dehydration combined with circulating crystalline structures. Imagine sand flowing through a water hose, and then suddenly the water stops. What happens to the sand? It gets stuck in the hose. A crude metaphor, I know, but realizing that uric acid crystals circulating in the blood can cause havoc with joint pain, it seems wise to point out that full hydration is likely crucial for anyone choosing to take this product. My main complaint about zeolites is that they have been tested on lab rats. As is standard procedure in pharmaceutical testing, lab rats are given cancer (through injection of carcinogenic substances, usually) and then watched for their response to the substance being tested. Because I'm a big animal rights supporter, and I have compassion for all living things, I'm not happy about this animal testing on the product, and I wish the manufacturer would announce an animal testing ban from here on out. Rats are mammals, after all. They give live birth, just like we do. And although you might argue that sacrificing the lives of a few rats is worth finding a potential treatment for deadly diseases like cancer, I have an argument against that: most people with cancer chose a lifestyle that causes cancer, whether it's from cigarettes, eating junk food, avoiding exercise, and so on. The rats, in contrast, made no such choice. Cancer was forced upon them as an experiment -- sort of like making the rats pay for the sins of man. Thus, I believe it is morally wrong to give cancer to one group of mammals in order to discover a treatment for cancer in another group of mammals that's supposed to be of "higher intelligence" and yet isn't smart enough to stop its own self destruction. An interesting moral question, for sure, and one that I'm likely to revisit in future follow-up articles. Is it the next big thing in nutritional therapy? Because of the remarkable properties of zeolites, combined with the standing patent, the reputation of the researchers behind this product, and the desperate need for alternative solutions from people suffering from cancer, this NCD product stands well positioned to be a big deal in nutritional products. Today, very few people have heard about it (it was only released to the public recently). But a year from now, it could be well known and highly regarded in the healing communities. If the initial function claims hold up in further testing on humans, NCD could be nothing short of an unprecedented breakthrough in cancer prevention, anti-aging, heavy metals detoxification and many other areas pivotal to the health of the public at large. This single product could conceivably play a significant role in the reversal of the health decline of populations in the United States, Canada and developed nations around the world. This is especially true given the shocking fact that nearly every person in the United States has at least 125 toxic chemicals in their blood right now that don't belong there. Recent studies are even finding rocket fuel in 100% of breast milk samples taken from women across 18 states. The potential success of this product depends on how this plays out, especially with FDA regulators who will no doubt be heavily scrutinizing this product. Why? My opinion is that the cancer treatment industry is one of the most politically powerful (and profitable) industries on the planet, and anything that competes with chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and mammography is bound to be attacked by the AMA, FDA and old school doctors. But that's just my opinion based on the way Dr. Burzynski (and other cancer research pioneers) have been attacked and discredited, going all the way back to Hoxsey. Besides, innovation is always the enemy of the status quo. And the slash & burn approach to cancer being practiced today is definitely the "status quo." In any case, while I can't predict the future with certainty, I'd say this product is positioned to be one of the most sought-after and talked-about disease prevention breakthroughs any of us have seen in a while. Although I can't be involved with this company (due to my journalistic ethical guidelines), I am ordering product for personal experimentation, and I do expect to write a number of follow-up articles on NCD as this story unfolds. Cancer Strategy #1: Use Zeolite To Kill Cancer Cells... Without Harming Your Body When chemotherapy and radiation therapy are used to kill the cancerous cells, they harm healthy cells in the process. In fact, they sometimes kill people faster than the cancer would have done. This report focuses on natural supplements that do a good job of killing cancerous cells, but don't cause harm to your body. A few natural supplements suggested for fighting cancer do have the potential to be toxic to the body, and should probably just be used in conjunction with a naturopath or alternative doctor. These include cesium, artemisia, and B17. In this report you will learn only about completely safe cancer supplements that can be used with no supervision. You may well ask why , if a safe and natural product is able to kill cancer, doesn't your doctor recommend it. Of course, he probably doesn't know about it, but even if he did, he's not likely to use it. It's the nature of the medical/drug industry. Doctors use and recommend drugs that are approved in a process that costs hundreds of millions of dollars. The drug companies only make drugs that can be patented. That way they can sell them for huge mark-ups and have no competition. Unfortunately, anything that has been altered from nature, which it must be to be patented, becomes a toxic substance in your body. Your body can handle natural foods and herbs, the altered ones have toxic side-effects and just don't work well in your body. It's why the biggest cause of deaths in the US is from medical drugs. No company would ever take an unpatentable natural product through the drug approval process, so the healthy natural supplements aren't approved to be used for cancer or whatever other health condition they may help. As they are not approved, doctors, or at least most doctors, won't use them, and most don't even know about them. If a doctor is not tied in and blinded by the medical/drug industry, he or she finds that a comprehensive approach to fighting cancer using powerful supplements that deal with the many different issues in cancer, works much better than only using drugs and other treatments that harm the body. But for now you have to turn to other resources to find safe cancer killers. One of the best has proven, through anecdotal use, to be zeolite. Zeolite is a unique volcanic mineral that is highly effective at destroying cancer cells. In fact, results have been so impressive, anyone fighting cancer or wishing to prevent cancer should be using zeolite. It comes in two basic forms, a liquid zeolite, and a powdered micronized zeolite. Part of what zeolite does is to work on a couple of the basic issues in cancer. It is a powerful detoxifier, and improves the alkalinity of your body. More importantly though, zeolite is a cancer killer as it can, when pulled into cancer cells, activate the P21 gene which tells a cancer cell to die, or literally destroy the nucleus of cancerous cells. Zeolite works exceptionally well at fighting cancer as an informal 14 month study several years ago showed. 65 people with mostly stage 4 cancer, who had a prognosis of about 2 months to live, were given a type of liquid zeolite. At the end of the study, 51 people were cancer free and six more were alive, but still fighting cancer. This is a 78% cure rate for terminal cancer, an incredible 89% survival rate. This study was actually similar to what happens in the real world. There was no control as to what drugs people were taking, or what other protocols they were on. Every person in the study basically answered an ad in a newspaper that said, "If your doctor has given up on you, call us." So they were mostly people who had end-stage cancer, whose doctors had sent them home to get their affairs in order. Throughout the study, many patients used some sort of adjunctive treatment. For example, a lung cancer patient was told to go home and get his affairs in order. After three months on this liquid Cellular Zeolite, he was feeling much better. He went back to his oncologist, who suggested that he was strong enough to undergo more chemotherapy and radiation. So he stayed on the Cellular Zeolite, but he also went on chemo and radiation at that point. Not bad for a bunch of folks sent home to die. For several years now liquid zeolite has been used extensively by individuals for cancer. Testimonies have been impressive. A female biophysicist had a state of the art, highly sophisticated GDV analyzer that measures and analyzes the energies in the human body. With lumps and pain in her breasts, her GDV's cancer readings were sky high. Three weeks after starting on the liquid Zeolite, taking it at the suggested therapeutic level, her lumps were gone, as was the pain. And the GDV machine showed there was no cancer in her body. Bladder cancer testimony: "Last January (2005) my father-in-law had another surgery for bladder cancer. In this, and the previous surgeries, tumors were found and treated. Since last January he has worn a catheter bag to collect his urine. A few months ago his catheter bag began to have blood in it. He continued to pass more and more blood, accompanied by a foul odor. "After testing his urine and blood, his doctor told him the cancer was back. The doctor explained that radiation treatments would likely follow the surgery, and maybe chemotherapy after that. Surgery was scheduled for Friday Sept. 2nd. "On Saturday Aug. 20th we got some liquid Zeolite to him. In FOUR DAYS the bleeding STOPPED and the catheter bag remained clear of any blood. After a week on it, he woke one morning and his catheter bag was full of a sticky ugly gunk, and had a terrible odor. The catheter bags and tubes could not be cleaned, and had to be discarded and replaced. From that point on there has been NO blood or odor in his catheter bag. "Friday, September 2nd, Carl underwent surgery. His doctor was surprised to find NO Tumors in his bladder! He said he was just sure there would be tumors there. Carl has also experienced an increase in energy since taking the liquid Zeolite." Ron W. Another man had testicular cancer with three tumors confirmed by cat scan. He was scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks. He started using liquid Zeolite a few days later. When he went in for surgery, on checking for exact tumor locations by ct scan - nothing was found. A big turn around in only a couple of weeks, though realistically most people take longer to see results, and whenever you are fighting for your life, you are best off to use a comprehensive approach that involves numerous ways to correct the underlying conditions that caused the cancer. Here's how zeolite works. Zeolite is a negatively charged volcanic mineral that naturally attracts positively charged toxins to it, (all toxins are positively charged) and traps them in its cage-like structure. It absorbs toxins. Zeolite's ionic charge turns slightly positive when it is full of the positively charged toxins it has absorbed. Normal cells have a neutral charge while cancer cells have a slightly negative electrical charge. So the now slightly positively charged zeolite molecule is attracted to cancer cells. Once inside the cancer cells, it does a couple of things that kill the cancer cells. 1. Zeolite activates the p21 gene. The function of the p21 gene is to tell the cancer cell to die. P21 acts as a tumor suppressor as it controls cell cycle progression. The activation of P21 appears to halt the growth of tumors by directly suppressing growth signals. In in-vitro studies, all cancer cells tested were destroyed in 72 hour. There are no side effects because it specifically targets cancer cells as it is not attracted to normal healthy cells. 2. Another thing can happen once zeolite is pulled inside a cancer cell. The tri metallic part of the zeolite may destroy the nucleus or the cell or the cytoplasmic organelles. Some cancer cells are destroyed in an outward burst of the cytoplasm. In other cases cells are destroyed when their wall and membrane collapse after the nucleus is destroyed. Most often, after the nucleus and the cytoplasm are destroyed, the entire cellular contents dissipate into the surrounding environment. The membrane of these now dead cancer cells remain intact, but no cellular structures are left. Again, because of its ionic charge, zeolite is attracted to cancer cells only. It does not get into ordinary, healthy cells. More remarkable results.... " I had a friend in MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas with Leukemia who was coughing continuously from pneumonia... Last Thursday (September 15th) He started taking 15 drops three times a day of this liquid Zeolite. The first day he completely stopped coughing. The Doctor said do not stop the drops. He left the Hospital today (Saturday September 17th), and is now an outpatient." Rick "I can't thank you enough. "My father went for his monthly check up on Friday 23rd December 05. The doctor greeted him with a smile on his face from ear to ear. He told my father and mother to sit down because he had some good news. He said that the cancer had receded at a remarkable rate. He just could not believe it. He said that he should not worry anymore, and if things went on like this then he would make a full recovery. The Doctor kept using the word remarkable!!! My father has only been taking the liquid zeolite for two weeks and the results are just a miracle. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." Glenn Keiko is a female, age 72. “At the end of Oct 2004 (11 months ago) Keiko was diagnosed in Japan with class 3 cervical cancer. At the recommendation of her doctors she underwent 28 rounds of radiation therapy. At the end of those treatments her doctors told her they had eradicated the cancer in her cervix. Keiko’s daughter, Felice, had a recommendation from her doctors here in Hawaii that Keiko should really have a PET scan in Japan to check and make sure it hadn’t spread anywhere else. It had indeed metastasized to every lymph node in her body. Felice brought her mom to Hawaii in June of this year and the oncologists here said this was an extremely aggressive form of cancer. A CAT scan showed two more spots (on her lung and on her stomach) in addition to everything else. They would try 8 rounds of chemo therapy to put off what seemed imminent – but the prognosis was grim, they didn’t expect her to live even a year. But Keiko is a fighter. And her daughter was absolutely determined. So they walked this road with faith in the power of prayer. By the 5th round of chemo therapy Keiko was so sick (nausea, vomiting and diarrhea) they decided to stop – that was three weeks ago. Instead they kept praying and kept using the natural supplements. 5 weeks ago a friend told Felice and her mom about Zeolite. Keiko took it for a week before she had to stop to accommodate the 5th round of her chemo schedule. This time she got so sick from the chemo she and her daughter decided to stop the treatment right in the middle of the round (3 weeks ago) and they continued with the Zeolite - 15 drops 3X day starting the next day. “Three weeks later... Keiko had a follow up contrast dye CAT scan: When they walked in to her doctor’s office, he asked how she was feeling and what she’d been eating, and had a sort of perplexed look on his face. Nothing. And the nurses were crying with emotion when they spoke with Felice and Keiko.” Again, while these reports of very quick turnarounds are most impressive, most people do take longer. And there are many many people who have got over their cancer while using zeolite. Certainly the more cancer there is in the body, the longer it may take as it will require more zeolite to kill all the cells. While other issues may need to be dealt with, zeolite has proven itself to be at the forefront of the cancer fighting supplements. It also takes a load off the liver and kidneys. Ammonia is a toxin that has no place in a healthy body. Thousands of people with liver and kidney disease die every year from too much ammonia in their blood. The average person can handle low levels of ammonia in their blood, but even a low level adds stress to the immune system, and compromises health. Most ammonia in the body forms when protein is broken down by un-friendly bacteria in the intestines. It is also produced by parasites, yeasts and molds. Of course, this is not really an issue because the original activated zeolite doesn't break down and release toxins in the body like this manufacturer claims. It has been used by detoxification clinics where they test heavy metal and other toxic loads before and after use, and their testing shows that it works very well at getting rid of toxins. So much for that argument. And I've talked to chemists and folks who specialize in minerals and zeolite who say that it is much harder to absorb and assimilate the powder. Our feedback from talking to many people who have used both is that most of the time the liquid works faster and better. One site writes, "Mineral crystals - both fibrous and non-fibrous - have a long history of causing disease. The type of zeolite used in the products does not cause this problem, as the writer must well know. In addition, you are not breathing in the zeolite, which you have to do to get these types of lung conditions. You are taking it internally. He then writes that there is "electron microscope data indicating that the crystals of this product have sharp edges." and that a principal of the company "states that these crystals enter the bloodstream (presumably through the small intestine), cells, and intercellular spaces, and that they are highly reactive." Again, studies quoted below and a history of use by humans and animals show no safety concerns, no matter what type edges it has. And it is highly reactive, but only to attracting heavy metals and other toxins to it, because of it's ionic charge. Not to biochemical interactions as he implies in the questions below. This particular form of zeolite used in both the liquid and powdered version we recommend, clinoptilolite, has been labeled 100% safe and non-toxic by the FDA. Just like with mushrooms, many types of zeolite are harmful, some aren't. There are more than 100 different zeolites. As an example, asbestos is a zeolite and causes cancer when inhaled as a fine powder. The zeolites we are talking about have been proven to be safe. They are a naturally-occurring non-fibrous clinoptilolite zeolite and are considered to be extremely safe and entirely non-toxic (even when inhaled). A study published in 1993 concluded that "clinoptilolite type zeolite had no carcinogenic activity." (Tatrai E, Ungvary G. Study carcinogenicity of clinoptilolite type zeolite in Wistar rats. Pol J Occup Med Environ Health. 1993;6(1):27-34.) Another study noted that the absence in this zeolite "of fibrous particles capable of producing hydroxyl radicals makes this zeolite sample nontoxic and noncarcinogenic, at least when applied orally." (Pavelic K, et al Natural zeolite clinoptilolite: new adjuvant in anticancer therapy. J Mol Med. 2001;78(12):708-20.) Additionally, detractors suggest that there are no long-term animal or human toxicity studies. This is also incorrect. This type of zeolite has been used in water filtration, air purification, plant fertilizers and animal feed for more than thirty years in the United States. Hundreds of published studies and articles outline its uses and benefits in humans and animals. A Med line search for "clinoptilolite" has no fewer than 140 articles on the uses of zeolite: removing heavy metals, improving the health of animals, treating viral disorders, removing fungal toxins, remediation of soil and treating cancer. In fact, there has been extensive testing done on this type of zeolite for use as an anti-diarrhea drug for humans. They claim that the aluminum that makes up the structure of the zeolite molecule is a danger. Again, they get it wrong. The zeolite molecule is composed of silica and aluminum oxides, one AlO4 four SiO4 molecules. It is a crystal with a pyramid structure (tetrahedral) with the small Al-O4 in the center of the four Silica molecules. The aluminum is trapped by the silica in this virtually indestructible particle. The aluminum is NEVER bioavailable. Another website claims that research shows that zeolite is virtually insoluble in the body, and that if it did get into the body it would be the "scientific marvel of the year." Perhaps this writer ignored or was not aware of the research with one liquid zeolite showing that 60% of it was excreted through the kidneys - a clear indication that 60% of it was getting into the bloodstream. Another clear indication that even the micronized powder gets into the rest of the body is the fact that it has been sold for several years in the USA for hangovers as it rapidly detoxifies the toxins alcohol produces in the body. Rapid results with autistic children also indicate that it is even working in the brain. Then the article goes on to criticize the research that went into the patent. Calls the stage 4 cancer study with the 78% cure rate one of the "coincidental anomalies". Wouldn't you like to have a 78% chance of being an anomaly. And claims that it couldn't really have happened with the way medical research is conducted. (This wasn't a standard medical study.) Finally says that who knows if the people in the study really had 6 weeks to live. I agree with the writer entirely on this. It's got to be just a rough estimate. But does it really matter to you if it were 6 weeks or 3 months. People in the study answered an ad asking for people the doctors had given up on. And the liquid zeolite proved to be very beneficial to them. Anecdotal evidence supports the ability of zeolite to pull heavy metals from the body. Three children in one family had over a 60% decrease in their elevated heavy metal levels in just 3 weeks of taking 6 to 8 drops of a liquid Zeolite 3 times a day, based on a before and after immunoassay of saliva and urine. Children with autism have experienced improvements within days of taking as little as a drop a day of the liquid zeolite - a clear indication that heavy metals and other toxins are being pulled from their brains. There are claims that the clinoptilolite zeolite to be indiscriminate in what it adsorbs - that it will absorb nutrients. This too is incorrect. Dozens of published studies outline the reactivity series of zeolite, (what it absorbs). It has a preference for the heavier metals and larger compounds that carry a positive charge. The reactivity series starts with mercury (Hg). It is: Hg, Pb, Sn, Cd, As, Al, Sb, Fe, Ni and so on. Smaller compounds may go into the zeolite, but will not be trapped. In fact, several animal studies show that adding clinoptilolite zeolite to animal feed actually increases overall nutritional health of the animal rather than making it worse. So let's take a look at another effective cancer fighting strategy, increasing oxygenation of the body. A little-known therapy just a few years ago, chelation (key-LAY-shun) is now gaining attention as a viable alternative to coronary bypass surgery, angioplasty and circulation problems. Chelation therapy is the intravenous administration of an artificial amino acid (EDTA) combined with other nutrients to remove toxic metals. These toxic metals increase the amount of destructive chemical substances which cause cellular breakdown and contribute to hardening of the arteries. According to the book Forty Something Forever, written by Harold and Arline Brecher,the procedure helps your body decrease plaque in the arteries and increase blood flow to organs and extremities. The scientific research they reviewed shows: * "Inhibition of platelet aggregation (blood stickiness) in humans within three minutes of EDTA infusion; * 12 to 20% improved pulmonary [lung] function ... following 30 chelation treatments in 90.5% of 38 patients with independently diagnosed chronic lung disorders; * Marked improvement in 91% (and good improvement in 8%) in 1,130 patients with peripheral vascular disease [hardening of the arteries] and intermittent claudication [pain in legs upon walking] over a 28-month treatment period; * Marked improvement in 76.9% (and good improvement in 17%) of 844 patients with ischemic heart disease over a 28-month treatment period; * Marked or good improvement in 89% of all 2,870 patients treated over a 28-month period, no matter what their presenting health problems; ... * 35% reduction in serious (76.63%) carotid artery blockage and 620% increase in blood flow in 16 men and women after ten months of EDTA infusions; ... * Documented evidence of the long-term success of EDTA chelation as an alternative to amputation in four patients originally scheduled for surgery." After providing Chelation Therapy for a number of years, we have come across outstanding stories and statistics regarding this marvelous treatment. For example we would like to share some findings dealing with EDTA Chelation from a recent article: According to Alternative Medicine Review, Volume 3, 1 , 1998,"...although it has not been subjected to vast numbers of clinical trials, two meta-analysises suggest EDTA chelation therapy benefits cardiovascular symptoms in more than four out of five patients. In 1993, Chappell and Stahl published an analysis of data on 22,765 patients, compiled from 19 published clinical studies. They found a correlation coefficient of 87 percent between EDTA therapy and improved cardiovascular symptomatology based on objective testing. Subsequently, they obtained unpublished file drawer data on 1,241 objectively-sorted patients from 32 clinicians. From this approach they obtained a correlation co-efficient of 88 percent, further building the case for cardiovascular benefit from EDTA. Danish physicians Hancke and Flytlie reported retrospectively on 470 patients with atherosclerosis. Of 65 patients awaiting bypass surgery and subjected to chelation, the vast majority showed clinical improvement; when chelation was completed only seven still required bypass. Of 27 patients previously scheduled for leg amputation, only three required surgery following courses of chelation therapy. These enticing results from EDTA chelation invite a well controlled comparison of chelation and revascularization, with the hope of being able to replace surgical revascularization techniques or to use chelation as an adjunct to these interventions. Chelation and Cancer We'd like to give you some interesting history about Chelation Therapy and cancer. Beginning in 1958, a lengthy study was conducted in Switzerland on 231 adults who lived near a well-traveled highway and had a higher rate of cancer mortality than other people in the same city that lived in traffic-free areas. The study group also suffered from a higher incidence of nervous disorders, headaches, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, depression and substance abuse. The researchers suggested that their symptoms might be due to a higher level of exposure to lead from automobile exhausts. Then, in 1961, 59 patients from this group received ten or more EDTA chelation treatments served as control subjects. An eighteen-year follow-up study of the group conducted by Walter Blumer, M.D. of Nestal, Switzerland revealed that only one of the 59 treated patients died of cancer (1.7 percent) as compared to thirty deaths (17.6 percent) from cancer among the non-treated subjects. This is a 90 percent reduction of mortality from cancer. Dr. Blumer found that death from atherosclerosis was also reduced among the treated patients. His findings were based upon Swiss death certificates and statistical evidence showing that EDTA chelation therapy was the only significant difference between the control group and the treated patients.
